Battery Storage Explained

Heard about battery storage but not sure what it actually is? Here’s a quick run-through.

It’s basically a big rechargeable battery for your home or business. When your solar panels make more electricity than you’re using, that extra power gets stored in the battery instead of going to waste. Then later, at night or on cloudy days, you use that stored energy instead of buying from the grid and that’s how you start saving on your energy bills.

The Benefits:

Save on Energy Bills

Using your own stored power means less cash to the energy company, especially when electricity prices spike in the evening.

More Control

You’re not just at the mercy of the grid. If there’s a power cut or prices go up, you’ve got backup power right there.

Good for the Planet

Using stored renewable energy means less carbon going into the air. So, you’re doing your bit for the environment without having to change how you live day to day.

What Kind of Savings Are We Talking About?

Say your panels make more power than you need during the day. At night, instead of paying, say, 20p per unit for electricity, you use your stored power for free. Over time, that really adds up, think hundreds saved every year.

Is It Worth It for You?

Battery storage isn’t perfect for everyone. It works best if you already have solar or want to get it, and you want to squeeze the most out of the energy you make. It’s always worth chatting with someone who knows the ins and outs to see what fits your setup and budget.
